Completely Disable One Drive In Windows 10

Here I will show you how to disable one drive in windows 10 it was previously known as Sky drive.It is a personal file storing service where we can upload our documents and other files.

In Windows 10 One drive comes bundled with operating system and is enabled by default when we sign in to Windows 10 with our Live account.

But many of us don’t like to have One drive mostly other alternates like Google Drive,Drop Box are used.Mostly people don’t like to use cloud storage as it may cause problem to some users.In institutes like schools and some business sectors don’t want to have this option enabled to their employees.

In the previous versions of Windows it was not forcefully integrated but in Windows 10 it is tightly integrated in the system.Its folder is located in the file explorer navigation pane right from the start.By default users don’t have the option to uninstall or disable it.

But there are several ways available to disable one drive in Windows 10.To remove,uninstall or hide the One Drive app just follow this step by step guide.

Disable One Drive In Windows 10 Tutorial 

1.First open run dialog box by pressing Win+R keys combination.

2.Open Local Group Policy Editor by typing GPedit.msc in the run dialog box.

3.Find and navigate to Local Computer Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates ->Windows Components -> OneDrive.

4.Double click on Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage. which is on the right pane.

5.Enable it by selecting the Enabled option.

6.Click OK

So this is it you have now disabled the One drive app and icon from explorer and running it in the process.

Uninstalling One Drive From Windows 10

If you want to remove One drive completely from Windows 10 you have to run the following commands in the command prompt.First you need to open command prompt by right clicking on it and select Run As Administrator.

Uninstall One Drive Commands

1.Terminate Process Of One Drive by running the following command.

taskkill /f /im OneDrive.exe

2.Uninstall the One Drive by the following command

For X86

%SystemRoot%\System32\OneDriveSetup.exe /uninstall

For X64

%SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\OneDriveSetup.exe /uninstall

After you have done with these commands the One Drive App will be remove completely from your system.Sometimes no alert will be shown to you you can search for the One drive app the app will not be in your system.

Now you have to clean the remaining files left by the One Drive App

Clean Left Overs By One Drive

Type the following commands to clean the remaining files of One Drive.

rd "%UserProfile%\OneDrive" /Q /S
rd "%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\OneDrive" /Q /S
rd "%ProgramData%\Microsoft OneDrive" /Q /S
rd "C:\OneDriveTemp" /Q /S
